The Banias river is one of the main sources of the Jordan river and it flows from a vertical cliff - the top is the exact place where according to Christian belief Jesus gave the keys of Heaven to Peter. You can get to the top of the cliff by finding the small hidden gate and walking up a steep path through an oak grove, it's worth the effort! (From up there you can walk to the fantastic Nimrod fortress of the Assassins, but that's another trip). If you follow the river from the springs you will have a wonderful walk, mostly in cool shade, of about 2 hours, to the beautiful waterfall (but keep in mind that you have to return or have transportation at the end of the trail).
